Interview with Morgan Hipworth

Morgan Hipworth, now known across Melbourne as the ‘doughnut king,’ is a 17-year-old boy who turned a passion for baking into a profitable business venture. Morgan was still in primary school when he began pursuing this dream, the dream that is the doughnut empire, Bistro Morgan! Morgan has since been featured on multiple news networks, Shark Tank, and has collaborated with many other businesses and well-known chefs. His ultimate goal is to have a store in every major city and he works day in and out in order to make this dream, his reality.

Impressed by the achievements of this successful entrepreneur, we asked Morgan about his current and future ventures.


1) How would you best describe Bistro Morgan?

would best describe Bistro Morgan as a fun and exciting doughnut brand where all your sugar dreams can come true! Bistro Morgan specialises in handmade, hand-dipped artisan doughnuts created in small batches for a large following. Is a fun and exciting doughnut brand.

2) What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

I have really loved cooking and baking since I was 7 years old. I then continued cooking and following my passion. Then when I was 13, I went to a local café and got chatting with the owners when they invited me to start supplying them with cakes. Thus Bistro Morgan was born!

3) Who supported you in creating/building your business?

My parents have been critical in this journey. My parents are great! I think the main thing they have done is just supported me in every way.

4) What advice would you give to aspiring young entrepreneurs?

I always just say, go for it! You’ve got nothing to lose and can only have some fun along the way!

5) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped you achieve your dreams?

Platforms such as Kebloom are great to encourage other young people to achieve their dreams and provide a platform for people like myself to share my story!

6) What has been the best part about starting up a business?

The best part of starting my own business is having the freedom to express my ideas however I like! It’s so amazing to see visions in my head come into reality.

7) What skills have you developed since being an entrepreneur?

I’ve developed so many different skills from organisation to communication. Running a business requires so many different skills!!
