Interview with Cory Nieves

Cory, or Mr Cory as he goes by, was only 6 years old when he began baking sweet treats with his mum. Little did he know, what began as a love for sugary desserts would become a nation-wide success, selling handmade cookies all around the US. Now having worked with a number of prestigious brands and not-for-profits, Cory has made a name for himself in many an industry and his brand continues to grow exponentially. We see many bright things for Mr Cory’s Cookies and Cory, now aged 14. Who knows where his business will take him?!

Intrigued by this passion fuelled dream turned career, Kebloom got in contact with Cory to ask a few questions about his founded business.

1) How would you best describe Mr Cory’s Cookies?

We are a cookie business that sells cookies nation-wide. We believe that all cookies should be good and natural and also that [business] is all about giving back to the community.

“Ignore those who say no as there will always be one in a 100 that says yes.”

2) What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

I always wanted to give my mum a car and to pay for my college tuition, so out of that I decided to become an entrepreneur.

3) Who supported you in creating/building your business?

I had help creating Mr Cory’s Cookies from my mum, friends and even customers who gave me advice on how to do business.

“Never give up!”

4) What advice would you give to aspiring young entrepreneurs?

I would say:

  1. Never give up, do what you like to do.

  2. Follow your passion and never work for the money.

  3. Ignore those who say no as there will always be one in a 100 that says yes.

5) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped you achieve your dreams?

A platform like Kebloom would have helped me acquire more information on how to get started running a business.

6) What has been the best part about starting up a business?

The best part has been seeing people smiling after eating the cookies because they enjoyed them.

7) What skills have you developed since being an entrepreneur?

I have developed skills of negotiation, how to manage my finances, how to work in a corporate company and in teaching other kids to be business-minded.
