Interview with Eden
Eden is an inspired young creator, specializing in handmade accessories such as infinity scarfs and jewelry. With her creativity piqued aged 7, Eden has since seen much success in selling and marketing her apparels at pop-ups and markets. Her philanthropic nature led her towards pursuing creation in benefit of others, donating to others in need out of the profits made from her sales. Eden maintains a dedicated presence on social media, marketing her wares and future appearances.
Impressed by the success of this young creator, Kebloom enquired further about Eden’s journey:
1) How would you best describe Eden’s Lovely Creations?
Eden's Lovely Creations specializes in handmade products. This includes apparel (scarves, hats, blankets) as well as jewelry and accessories.
“Don't give up on your dreams and keep going no matter what stands in your way.”
2) How old were you when you founded your company?
I was 7 years old when I started my business.
3) What passions inspired Eden’s Lovely Creations?
I enjoy crafts and making things. One day my mom and I were watching videos on how to make scarves and I knew it was something that I would enjoy doing. Around this time, we were also seeing news stories about the destruction that hurricane Dorian caused in the Bahamas. I really wanted to help those in need. So, my mom and I discussed starting up a business making scarves and using some of the profit to send care packages to the Bahamas and to help others in my community.
“Research what you enjoy doing and start off doing that.”
4) Who supports you with your business?
My mom, dad, brother and sister support me with my business. Other family members, friends, and customers have also played a major part in this.
5) What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs/inventors?
My advice for aspiring social entrepreneurs/inventors is to research what you enjoy doing and start off doing that. Also, don't give up on your dreams and keep going no matter what stands in your way.
6) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped you achieve your dreams?
A platform like Kebloom would have given me the motivation and the knowledge that owning my own business whilst supporting the community was possible.
7) What has been the best part about running your business?
So far, the best part has been my mom helping me make sales, seeing others excited to support me and giving back to my community.
8) What has been the most challenging part?
In addition to running my own business, I'm also a gymnast. In saying this, the most challenging part has been time management. Making sure I do well at school and can attend gymnastics practice and meets while running my own business can definitely be challenging at times.
9) What skills do you feel you have developed since becoming a business owner?
Being a business owner has helped me develop confidence. I've also learned how to provide great customer service, which is very important. The ability to advertise is a skill I, too, feel I've developed as a business owner.
…and anything else you’d like to add!
