Interview with Joshua Brooks

Joshua Brooks, aged 19, is an entrepreneurial force to reckon with. Having built multiple businesses in his younger years, Joshua’s current focus is on KidCampus, a hub for kids extracurricular activities. KidCampus simplifies the looking and booking process for parents looking to entertain and educate their youngsters. Joshua continues to expand his business and hopes one day to become the next Booking.com for kids and parents everywhere.

Intrigued by this novel idea, Kebloom interviewed Joshua about his educational initiative:

1) Please introduce yourself.

Hi, my name is Joshua Brooks. I'm a 19 year old entrepreneur - one of the entrepreneurs behind KidCampus.

“The skills that I've developed running my business have been invaluable.”

2) What is your business name and where are you based?

The name of our startup business is KidCampus. We are the place where all parents can go to find amazing educational and fun experiences for their children. We're based out in Sydney, Australia and our whole team is here, including the other two co-founders.

3)   What problem/need are you solving through your business?

Before running KidCampus, I was involved with a company which ran children's extracurricular programs: both after school and on school holidays. Through this, I realised that it was very difficult and timely for parents to find [extracurricular] programs. I also realised we could simplify the process for the providers, by making it really simple to accept and manage all enrolments.

“Our ultimate business goal is to become the one go-to directory for all children's activities.”

4) What skills have you developed since becoming a business owner?

The skills that I've developed running my business have been invaluable. I now have skills in everything, from confidence, public speaking, leadership to accounting, marketing and finance. When you're a founder you really have to do everything yourself, especially when you're the leader of a team. Learning how to take a problem and figuring out how to solve it, is incredibly valuable.

5) What is your ultimate goal?

Our ultimate business goal is to become the one go-to directory for all children's activities. To become the one place where you can find pretty much every activity, anything that you could possibly dream of for your children.

…and anything else you’d like to add!

If you're a parent looking for activities for your children, I’d love you to give it a shot, go over to kidcampus.com.au and jump on there and find your next amazing children's program. We've hundreds of activities on there, so go over there and check it out.
