Interview with Joshua & Jordan
Joshua and Jordan, brothers and entrepreneurs, set up JL Fun Colorz with a love for creativity, tackling a real-life problem they and other kids face. Their allergen-free and custom crayons are a fun way for young people to embrace their artistic side. The boys have made their mark by donating profits to charity and crayons to kids less fortunate. Supported by their friends and family, this power duo shows no signs of slowing down, creating a name for themselves both in their community and nation-wide!
Inspired by the creativity and innovation shown by these passionate entrepreneurs, Kebloom asked Joshua and Jordan about JL Fun Colorz and its’ conception:
1) How would you best describe JL Fun Colorz?
JL Fun Colorz is a custom crayon business. We make crayons in various shapes and sizes, along with our popular name crayons.
“We love being creative and artistic…”
2) Where is your business based?
We live in Tampa, Florida but most of our orders are shipped to different states.
3) How old were you both when you founded your company?
We started our business almost one year ago when we were 9 & 11 years old. Now we are 10 & 12 years old.
“Our advice would be to never give up and don't forget to have fun!”
4) What passions inspired JL Fun Colorz?
We both have multiple food & environmental allergies, so that inspired us to make non-food treats for all children to enjoy. We also love being creative and artistic so that too inspired our business.
5) Who supports you with your business?
Our mom helped us start our business and continues to support us daily. Our friends and family also support us, whether they are making purchases or simply sharing our posts on social media.
6) What advice would you give to social entrepreneurs/inventors?
Our advice would be to never give up and don't forget to have fun!
7) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped your achieve your dreams?
Kebloom is a great platform, helping kids who are starting up their own businesses. Kebloom would have helped us grow our business and to connect with other kid entrepreneurs as well. It definitely shows kids what they are capable of!
8) What has been the best part about running your business?
The best part of running our business has been being able to help others through donating our crayons to less fortunate kids and to charity. We also love meeting new people when we attend local vendor events.
9) What has been the most challenging part?
The most challenging part is the managing of schoolwork and keeping up with crayon orders. We are still working on our time management skills and how not to procrastinate!
10) What skills do you feel you have developed since becoming business owners?
We have learned so much about running a business since we founded JL Fun Colorz! We have learned about advertising on social media, creating spreadsheets to keep track of sales and expenses, money management, customer service skills, interview skills etc.!
…and anything else you’d like to add!
