Interview with Treandos Thornton
Treandos, aged 8, found his passion for business early. From what began as an admiration of his father’s bow tie collection became a goal to help both young and old to ‘dress for success.’ Making many key decisions from day dot, Treandos has proven himself to be quite the young entrepreneur and business mogul in the making. Working alongside his 5-year-old brother Noah (now Vice President), Treandos hopes to make the business his full-time career someday.
Impressed by the finesse of this young businessman, Kebloom reached out to Treandos with a few questions:
1) How would you best describe T&N Bow Ties and Apparel?
We are a kid-operated bow tie retailer that's actively engaged in the community. We sell stylish bow ties, neckties, cufflinks and scarves. Our platform focuses on all youth dressing for success.
“My younger brother is 5 years old now and he is the Vice President of the business.…”
2) Where is your business based?
We are an online boutique based in Georgia.
3) How old were you when you founded your company (and how old are you now)?
I started the business at 5 years old. I am now 8 years old. My younger brother is 5 years old now and he is the Vice President of the business.
“Believe in yourself, no matter what! Keep pushing! Take risks!”
4) What passions inspired T&N Bow Ties and Apparel?
My dad loves bow ties, so I naturally liked them too. Bow ties can be unique! I had the idea to start selling them to others and my journey has had the green light ever since.
5) Who supports you with your business?
I am blessed to have a great circle. My mom, dad and brother support me. My grandparents support me as well. The community has been on board from day 1 and we are ever grateful for the support from everyone.
6) What advice would you give to social entrepreneurs/inventors?
Believe in yourself, no matter what! Keep pushing! Take risks!
7) To what extent would a platform like Kebloom have helped your achieve your dreams?
Exposure is key! Reaching more audiences is important for all platforms.
8) What has been the best part about running your business?
The best part of our business has been getting to meet so many cool people and tell them about our business. People are at the heart of what we do.
9) What has been the most challenging part?
Every business has the challenge of staying relevant. We remain committed to our mission to promote professional dress for all community youth.
10) What skills do you feel you have developed since becoming a business owner?
I continue to develop selling skills. My merchandise is quality and I want the world to know. Our company stands for something and it’s more than bow ties. We are T&N Bow Ties and Apparel - where style meets purpose.
